Today’s Monday Mo was presented to you by Katie Harris, Managing Partner at Spot On Solutions.
Have you every participated in a challenge? A food eating challenge? A weight loss challenge? A marketing challenge?
It’s so interesting to me how we both love and hate challenges. On one hand a challenge can be totally motivating and engaging. We even talk our friends and co-workers into joining us in some challenges. We watch TV shows about makeover challenges. Sometimes we even pay for the “privilege” of joining a challenge.
What I love about these type of challenges is they WORK! We optimistically commit to something hard or new and join others who are doing the same thing. As a result people who participate in challenges are more likely to accomplish their goal. So… I have to wonder when does a “challenge” take on a negative connotation and how can we shift our perspective?
Here are just a few of the motivational quotes about challenges:
“Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered you will never grow.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don’t fight them. Just find a new way to stand.” ~ Oprah Winfrey
“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” ~ Joshua J. Marine
“Being challenged is life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.” ~ Roger Crawford
At Spot On Solutions one of our values is WE FACE CHALLENGES WITH OPTIMISM.
I love how a little shift in focus can make all the difference. Do you have a problem or is it just a challenge you get to learn from and master? Are you facing a challenge alone or can it be a challenge you sign up for and conquer with a reward at the end?
What “challenges” have made you who you are today? What “challenges” have resulted in major growth and success for you?
