Monday Mo: How To Reach Your Goals When You’re Feeling Overwhelmed

This week’s Monday Mo was written by one of our account managers Melissa Hartley.

Have a million things on your plate and don’t know what to do first? I think no matter how motivated we are, we all tend to fall into this trap. Don’t worry, although I won’t judge you if you do. Take a deep breath because you can do this! When I find myself lost in my ambitions, I do these 4 things to get back on track:

1. List It

Grab everything in that lovely brain of yours and write it all down… or type it out if that better suits you. If you can’t identify what needs to be done, there is no way those things will just happen on their own. You’ll likely add to this list as you go, so don’t be afraid to let the list flex and grow as you take steps towards your overall goal. If something is missing, you’ll discover it along the way.

2. Prioritize It

Okay, now take that messy list and buckle up because it’s time to organize.
Tier your list based on what needs to get done first. There should be a
distinct flow and order to your task list, but you might find some things on
your list can be done at any time. Take the misc. tasks and put them in their
own bucket.

3. Schedule It

Now that you’ve grouped tasks in the order in which you need to do them…
put 👏 them 👏 on 👏 your 👏 calendar. Start with the high priority tasks. Give
them each a realistic time slot, bigger tasks might need to be repeated on
your calendar until they get done. Fill in the blanks with your misc. tasks so
you’re always making progress towards your goals.

4. Do It

This one is simple, but it requires something that can be difficult to muster at
times… dedication. Yes, life happens and you have to be flexible, but when
you make time to do something, just do it. Commit to following your plan as
best as you can.

Now that it’s all laid out… just take it one day at a time. Rest assured
knowing that everything on your list has a time and a place. It will get done.
You are amazing. Go get ‘em tiger!
